Living in Paris Vincent Van Gogh was already nearly 30 years old, when he began to paint. His first, dark pictures show workers and farmers and sights of Belgium, where he got to know the poverty of these people working as a preacher and a male nurse. The pictures are rather gloomy and far away of the splendid colours of his late works. |

After getting in touch with the impressionism and even more after his removal to Arles, to the South of France, Vincent Van Gogh painted most of his well known stuff. There, in the South, between 1888 and 1890, also influenced by Paul Gauguin, they lived and worked together for some time, he created pictures full of incomparable intense colours depicting persons and sceneries fond of life. Vincent Van Gogh died on the 29th of July 1890 of the aftereffect of a suicide attempt. |
